LED-Lit Monitor
With a slick-looking edge-to-edge glass design, the monitor is
decked out in the familiar UltraSharp black-and-silver color scheme.
The cabinet is 1.9 inches thick, weighs 15 pounds, and is supported
by a stand that offers height, tilt, swivel, and pivot
adjustability. There are five buttons on the right side of the
cabinet used for powering up the monitor and accessing its extensive
settings menus. Basic settings include Brightness, Contrast, Input
Source, Gamma, and Sharpness. There are eight Color Preset Modes,
including Standard, Multimedia, Movie, Game, Paper, Color
Temperature, Color Space, and Custom Color. The Color Space menu
offers Adobe RGB, sRGB, and two custom Calibration settings. The
Custom Color menu offers advanced settings for calibrating the
monitor and creating a custom profile. Here, you can fine-tune color
levels using the Gain, Offset, Hue, and Saturation settings and save
these settings as a Color Space menu option
All of the UP2715K’s I/O ports are located on the back of the
cabinet, including the five downstream USB 3.0 ports and a single
USB 3.0 upstream port. While it’s nice to have USB connectivity,
having a couple of side-mounted USB ports would make it easier to
plug in thumb drives. Video connections include one mini-DisplayPort
and two full-size DisplayPort inputs. You don’t get any legacy or
HDMI ports with this monitor.
On the left side of the cabinet is a card reader with support for MS
Pro/Duo, SD, and MMC media. The UP2715K boasts a pair of 16-watt
Harmon/Kardon speakers that are very loud and put out
better-than-average bass response. The monitor comes with a 3-year
warranty on parts, labor, and backlight and ships with a USB cable
and fve DisplayPort cables (two full size, two mini, and one
full-to-mini).
